4) Dust collectors run at one speed. Some shop vacuums have variable speed thus making less noise and consuming less electricity. A quick check shows my Fein vacuum running at low speed uses about 5 amps at 110 v. Much less electricity than that used by a 1.5 hp dust collector. Bottom line.. Haiti vs denmark
One router design may place the blocks in a different orientation than the next guys design and surely that's part of the equation. When buying China direct the price difference isn't huge for larger diameter so I just went for size large. I found a Newing hall NH600 engraver that is in great shape but has no control. I would like to convert it to a router by adding a Z axis. The mechanics are no problem. I don't know anything about steppers and PC controls. One other thing I looked at was using a router, and actually swapping out routers. This would be the cheapest method, but take the most space. You can buy porter cable routers on eBay for less than $100.
